The Evolution of a Chair

There is this great new chair from Capellini that was introduced at this year's ICFF in New York.  It is called the Peacock Chair.  It got me thinking about influences in design, where they come from whether subliminally or direct.   So I thought I would share some images of where the design of this chair might have come from – strictly from my imagination of course.

Perhaps it started with the Elizabethan collar…

Which might have influenced this fabulous coat from Azzedine Alaia, the great Tunisian fashion designer…

And his dress from the Spring '09 collection…

And perhaps even this dress from the wonderful Cuban designer Isabel Toldeo…

Which brings us back to the chair!
